We want every Executive Director of Nova Scotia’s Regional Centres for Education and the members of the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial to sign the guarantee below.
I commit that:
Schools will be clean. I will maintain the staffing and resources required to keep schools clean, healthy and properly maintained.
Schools will be safe. I will maintain the staffing required for students to receive the supervision, support and services they need for a safe learning environment.
Schools will be accessible. I will maintain the transportation, staffing and supports students need to get to school and participate fully in their education.
Problems will not be hidden. I will publicly report staffing vacancies, service reductions, cancelled transportation and other circumstances that prevent a school from meeting these standards.
Funding shortfalls will not become lower standards. Where available funding is insufficient to meet the Good Schools Guarantee, I will publicly identify the resources required and call on the Province of Nova Scotia to provide them.
Every community counts. These standards apply to every school and every student in our region. I commit to working with school staff, families and communities to guarantee good schools for all.
